Meet Woods

Wild wellness and regenerative travel expert

I am Woods: wellness practitioner, nature lover, and professional hammocker. Solo traveling since 2018.

In 2015, as I was getting close to wrapping up my decade as a traditional classroom educator, I dreamed about hosting Blk2Nature trips. I started doing some light market research asking people would they go on that kind of a trip, and folks were interested.

Then in 2018, I began working a gap year program traveling across Central and South America visiting some of the coolest off the beaten path natural landscapes. That experience inspired me to take an adult gap year, and I officially began my "slow-mad" journey.

I spent five winters in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, three summers in the Adirondacks, I became a certified yoga instructor, certified open water scuba diver, NOLS-trained hiking and flatwater canoe instructor, and Mindful Outdoor Guide with the Kripalu Yoga and Health Center.

Given everything I've learned since 2015, the vision has evolved. I love nature even more and have some super cool places that I want to share with Black nature enthusiasts who love to travel on Blk to Nature trips. I now understand how nature and travel influence one's wellbeing. They are more than hobbies. Additionally, I now have a more expansive worldview of travel after learning about eco-conscious and regenerative travel. This too is part of our wellbeing.

So in 2026, I'm setting out to create a space for travelers like me who want nature, adventure, wellness, cultural immersion (especially Black culture across the diaspora), regenerative travel, and a dash of luxury every now and again.

Woods on the Water is the embodiment of all of that. There are very few travel spaces that bring inner nature, outer nature, and collective nature all together in one space. This is why I created Woods on the Water.

I'm glad you're here. Welcome.

Why Woods on the Water

Three natures shape
every journey

Inner Nature

How you care for your body, breath, and being. Every journey starts with how you want to feel, not where you want to go.

Outer Nature

How you meet land, water, food, wildlife, and place. Nature is the foundation of every itinerary, never the backdrop.

Collective Nature

How you move with care for people, culture, and community. Your visit supports the places and people that host you.

Our Approach

How we turn a feeling
into a journey

Listen first

Before we talk destinations, we talk about how you want to feel: rested, connected, grounded, alive.

Curate with care

We match you with the destination, property, and experiences that fit: locally rooted, culturally rich, and truly restful.

Stay close

The support begins before your trip and continues after you return home. The only thing you carry is your bag.
